Pittsburgh, where the rivers cool it.

Three rivers, forty bridges, and a downtown wedged between water on two sides. Three picks that use the rivers and the warehouse grid as climate control.

By

Pittsburgh’s downtown triangle is bounded by the Allegheny and Monongahela, and the river air moderates the wedge between them — the Point reads several degrees cooler than Oakland on July afternoons. The Cultural District’s mid-rise shadow and the Strip District’s warehouse awnings extend the cool zone east.

These picks run the water and the warehouse line. The Allegheny riverfront trail under the bridge series is the move — every bridge is a shade band, and there are seven of them in a mile.
