When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
During route calculation, we use your device location (GPS coordinates) to compute walking directions and shade. Location is sent to our servers only during active route requests and is not stored.
We store your walk history (distance, duration, shade score, and place labels you typed) to power your streak and stats. This data is linked to your account.
If you subscribe, your payment is processed by Stripe. We store a Stripe customer ID and subscription status but never your card number.
Stay Cool uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
Your account data is retained as long as your account exists. Walk history is retained indefinitely to power your lifetime stats. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us, which permanently deletes all your data.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@walkintheshade.com.
If you are in the EU or UK, you also have rights under GDPR/UK GDPR, including the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking cookies. Google AdSense may set its own cookies on free-tier users; you can manage these via Google's ad settings.
