Kreuzberg, canal side.

The Landwehrkanal’s plane and chestnut rows shade both banks from Urbanhafen to the Türkenmarkt. Three picks on Berlin’s laziest cool corridor.

By

The Landwehrkanal is Kreuzberg’s living room: plane trees and chestnuts closing over both banks, swans working the tour-boat wakes, and the whole neighborhood on the grass at the first sun. For the walker the banks read as a continuous four-kilometer canopy line — the coolest east–west route across the district.

These picks run the Paul-Lincke-Ufer stretch, the Turkish market’s awning canyon (Tuesdays and Fridays), and the Urbanhafen basin loop past the hospital park.
